LadyPhoenix, that kind of behavior is among the reasons why my spouse and I limit contact with some of his siblings. They either try to "negotiate" or they make strange, passive-aggressive comments. Neither tactic works with me and I don't mind shutting that shit down, but I sure don't wanna sign up to deal with that behavior any more frequently than necessary.

That behavior used to work with me because I was a kid and didn't know any better. By the time I became an adult I'd figured them out but still couldn't say much because there were more of them than me. Once I got into my 30s I stopped playing their game. Then when I transitioned, that problem mostly solved itself as most of the extended family pretends I no longer exist. My in-laws aren't much better but we no longer talk to them for various reasons so it's a moot point.

So, we have presidential elections coming up in November. One of the main candidates (associated with the current right-of-center government) made a pretty nasty comment about another candidate, saying that he wasn't qualified to be president because he lacked the life experiencing of being a father. There was a huge backlash to his comment and a lot of support for people who don't have children for any reason. I really feel like this country is changing in its attitude towards the childfree, which is a good thing, obviously.

That's huge in South America where damn near everyone is Catholic.

I was surprised when Mexico decriminalized abortion - and they're staunchly Catholic as well. What's going on with the Catholics? Have they finally figured out that having a zillion kids is not the smartest thing you can do?

^Meanwhile in TX, the Talibangelicals are up to their usual bullshit, ugh...

I watched this documentary on LuLaRoe yesterday. I had heard of them before, but I didn't know much more than they sold leggings. Didn't even really know what they looked like. Now I'm wondering who actually bought those leggings, as I don't think I ever saw anyone wearing that stuff out in public.

We're coming up on, um... 5 in December. What can I say, we got a late start.
