***Runny Egg Alert***

It's hard to see, but that's a wedge of potato-leek gratin under the egg.

Last night I made Swedish meatball pasta. Made some meatballs first, then quickly seared them in a pot, and added beef broth, milk, salt & pepper. Once that came to a simmer, I dumped in some egg noodles, and just let them cook until they were tender (I did have to stir them pretty constantly to make sure they didn’t stick). Finished off with some Parmesan and fresh parsley from the garden - stirred it around until the cheese melted, and that was it.

The meatballs did fall apart a bit thanks to all the stirring, so it came out more like a chunky meat sauce, but it tasted fine just the same. It was a nice change from the usual spaghetti and meatballs in a tomato sauce.

Bread making question for anyone who uses a breadmaker and has made a granary loaf in it.....

Any thoughts on what cycle should I use, wholemeal or a white bread cycle?

The recipe book that came with mine is a bit limited (basic loaf, french bread, wholemeal, then a couple on quick breads) and I can't find a breadmaker recipe that gives me a clue as to what cycle to use.

The nearest I've got is a recipe on the Kenwood site, but that just refers to cycle 3, which means nothing to me because I don't have a Kenwood. Cycle 3 on my machine is for wholemeal bread.

The flour is finely ground like white flour, but has the malty grains in it, so I'm guessing a basic loaf recipe would be close enough, but I'm just not sure.

^^^ What brand/model breadmaker do you have? I'm on a cooking forum and I can ask there.

Thanks CO, it's an Andrew James model AJ000365.

I only use the bread machine to make dough. I never go the whole cycle -- it's much nicer to form into a nice loaf and bake it in the oven.
