Nobody wants to go see Rage Against the Machine with me. My brother won't commit, and the other few people I've asked already have plans to attend with their friends. It's just making me feel worse and like nobody wants to hang out with me.

I admit I'm not coping well with things right now. I feel either sad/depressed or disinterested. Funny how one shitty thing can spiral like that.

And my appointment to see my therapist isn't until next week.

I know we have been Idiocracy for some time now

but today there's been a murder in my local area and there's already social media pics of the body.

I have reported straight to the police in the hope that the pics will come down quicker if they get involved. The victim hasn't even been identified, what if their family or friends see that? Ugh.

There was a hotel under construction that collapsed in high winds last year. A few people were killed, and some of the bodies are still trapped in the unstable rubble. At least is visible from the street, if not covered with a tarp. The tarp that was covering the body blew off a few weeks ago, and people started sharing pictures of it all over social media, again. Probably unlike in the UK, where some appear to still have some sanity regarding what constitutes "free speech", I think the police had to beg people to stop, since it wasn't actually a crime.

*CFinNY* poor souls.

Even with it being a crime here, I just thought it was horrendously tasteless, then when I heard the victim hadn’t even been identified for loved ones to be informed, I thought, I must get that removed.

I can’t imagine taking such revolting pictures. The victim wasn’t shot, so I was also thinking, if you can hang around filming, you might want to say some words of possible comfort to someone who might still be conscious....they took pics before police came along and sent them packing.

ETA I guess if it’s gang related you might not want to do anything in case you’re next.

People were sharing photos, etc. of Kobe Bryant's helicopter crash with "news" outlets like TMZ before the actual news (TV and newspapers) got the story. Apparently his wife said she found out her husband and daughter died from people sharing the TMZ story with her. The police didn't even know who was killed in the crash before TMZ ran the story. How lovely of them, right? I swear, social media has been the worst influence on people's behaviour. I would never think of posting a picture of a victim on social media. If I had seen the helicopter crash, my first thought would have been to call 911, not get some shots for Twitter. It's the ultimate exercise of crass behaviour to plaster strangers' misfortune all over your Facebook, or what have you.

I don’t think anyone should be allowed to name names till next of kin are informed.

I had to walk by the place today. I don’t think the blood was properly cleaned but there’s a storm coming so....

I dreamt last night I was in a helicopter circling the scene. I guess that’s my brain processing it.

This probably should be a FWP, but I'm putting it here, because, geez, was I ticked off today! :x

My wife had a hair appointment downtown at noon, and I needed to be in the office for a couple of hours anyway, so instead of driving two cars an hour each way, I worked from home in the morning, drove her downtown, dropped her, then drove 10 minutes more to my office.

When I dropped her, I pointed across the street and said, "That next street over is Court St. That's where we always park for the theatre. Just go over there when you're done, grab lunch at one of those cafes, then text me when you're ready to be picked up."

She texted me about an hour later, said she was done with her appointment and was going across the street to one of the cafes. Then she texted me a little later and said she was ready to go and where should I meet her?

I texted back and said:

"Walk straight out the front of the cafe, and walk all the way across Court St. to the other side and I'll just pull up to the curb and meet you. Remember, Court St. is a divided street, and each side is one way, so go all the way to the other side so you can just hop in the car."

Simple enough, right?

I got to two stoplights before her block and texted again, "Get ready, I'm two stoplights away. I don't want to hold up traffic when I pick you up."

Then I got to her block. Did a quick scan, didn't see her. Got to the end of the street and did a u-turn around to go up the other side, paid really close attention, checked both sides of the street and the median, didn't see her.

Got to another light and texted, "I just passed through, didn't see you, give me about five minutes and I'll try again."

Got to the other end, where I could u-turn again, made another pass. No wife.

So I called her. She didn't answer, so I left a message.

Made another unsuccessful pass. This is getting old, especially with city traffic to deal with.

She called me back.

"Where the hell are you?!," I asked.

"I don't know. I walked outside, then I noticed that street was a one-way street, so I thought it'd be easier to pick me up on the corner, so I walked to the end of the block and then that was one way going the wrong way. It looks like I'm on...Vine Street. By 6th. I think."

That's like a block over and two blocks down. WTF?!?!

So I told her to get to the corner on Vine, cross the street, then stand her happy ass there until I got down there to pick her up, which I was finally able to do.

When she got in the car, I asked her why in god's name didn't see do exactly what I told her the first time.

"Well, that street is a one-way street."

"Yeah, Court St! I said that in my text! That's why I said to go all the way across, so you'd be on the right side to just jump in the car!"

"Oh, well your text was confusing, so I thought the easiest thing was to find a better street."

:x

Shit.
The chap renting the house next door moved out a couple of weeks ago. Single guy, he'd been there about 18 months. Kept to himself, pleasant enough to say hello in passing, maybe some rather dodgy-looking girlfriends now and then, and in the summer had a habit of having shouted conversations into his phone outside in his little courtyard, but whatever. Certainly acceptable as a neighbour.

Just spotted that the new renters are moving in. First thing I see is some kind of plastic kindercrap toddler car put out into the tiny little courtyard garden. The one that is right outside my office window.

Shit.

That sucks, JessicaRabbit. We are lucky where we are now. We have an older couple on one side. The husband seems to be retired, the wife may be a bit younger because she's still working. On the other side it's a family with just one daughter. She looks or be about 9 or 10 and we never hear any kid-related noise from there. We had some neighbors from hell at the place where we used to rent, so it is a nice change.

I got a call from a wrong number, from somewhere down south according to my phone. I answered it without really looking, assuming it was my husband. He often calls on his lunch break. Anyways, I tell her she has a wrong number, and she responded, well who are YOU? Exactly why she thought I was required to tell her my name, I have no idea. I told her I wasn't the person she wanted to talk to, hung up and blocked her.
