I should be starting on Monday. It's a real job with PTO and benefits this time. And the medical/dental benefits are reasonably priced enough that I may be able to put the wife on them as well.

Wondering if I should bother to ask a colleague (who I do not work with frequently) to quit referring to me as "Young Lady". I'm a professional and I would like to be treated as such.

I'm 37 years old and it's great that I still look young, but someone calling me "Young Lady" really just rubs me the wrong way. Especially in a work context.

You could always respond in kind e.g. 'old man' or ma'am.....or something more colourful like 'me ole china'/sport/matey boy/mucker/rancid bowl of moose gissum :D

You could change things around and use a variety of things depending on your mood.

So my department is going through a huge re-org right now. It was announced on Thursday (scared the hell out of me when I had a 5 pm meeting with my boss and his boss, I thought they were going to fire me or something).

We were told that we would get an email with all the details and the new org chart, but so far - crickets. I’m hearing rumours about who got laid off, etc., but there’s no confirmation about what’s going on.

Organizational changes are never fun, but it’s even harder when you have no clue what the hell is going on and it seems like everyone is being kept in the dark.

Do people just not use spell-check any more? I'm reading this document for work right now and it is absolutely riddled with typos - one every other sentence on average. I try to be understanding for people who may not have English as their first language, but do people just not use spell check? Or do they ignore it? Or are people so heavily dependent on auto-correct that they aren't used to having to fix typos themselves?
