I like going to Vegas for the food. It's a great dining-out city. We haven't been in years, but I always pester the wife to go back.

Believe me I already have a list of eating establishments planned out. It includes the baller-ass buffet at the Wynn. Last time I'm pretty sure I got my money's worth just on prime rib and king crab legs alone.

Also I imagine it's easier for me to go to Vegas than you. No airplanes involved. I just drive north on I-15 for approximately five hours and BAM!, Vegas.

^^^ Flights for us, but they're usually cheap. Years ago, when MrsCO worked for the airline, we could fly to Vegas for $10, so she'd come home from work sometimes and say, "Pack a bag, I've got three days off and two tickets to Vegas, leaving in three hours. Chop-chop!"

Finally found this forum! It disappeared without a trace earlier this year. Now I can finally post my travels!

Later this month: Hawaii.

Off to Whitby (the Fish and Chip capital of the universe) for a few days tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it, apart from having the best fish and chips on the planet, it's such a lovely little town to wander around. The Abbey, the beach, the harbour, the 'old town' with all the little 'Whitby Jet' shops and all the Draculabilia!

^ To be fair they don't overplay it, there's a Dracula 'experience' which is very 'end of the pier' and that's about it really. Though they do have a couple of Goth weekends (one near Halloween, obviously) and if you don't mind people and crowds it's great to see everyone Steampunk'd up.

We did stay at a dinky themed B&B a few years back, bats hanging from the bedposts etc which was quite cute and the breakfast was brilliant, but you wouldn't want to stay more than a night or two as it is quite cramped.

If you do ever get there then 'Trenchers' has to be on your list, it's pricey but the best fish and chip restaurant EVER!!! They seem to have expanded their menu, last time I was there they didn't do anything other than fish, fresh off boat...They even have a chalkboard up telling you which trawlers and fishing boats have provided the the days fish.

Just back from New York:

George Eastman Museum in Rochester
Saratoga battlefield, etc.
A jump over to the Cabot Cheese visitor center in Vt.--Yummy
Ferry across L. Champlain
Two days wandering Adirondak park from L. Placid
One day following St Lawrence R. down to 1000 Islands area
Eve + morn in Niagara Falls, including dinner at the Skylon

We were unable to put the top down until Thursday, but otherwise had a grand time. Adk Park and 1000 Islands are on our return-to list.
